About Me

This is my story - along with some recent pictures.

My Background in Marketing

In 2017, my quest for top-level university sport, city life and a way into the marketing industry led me to Leeds Beckett University to study Sport Marketing. Here, through a variety of compelling modules and inspiring lecturers, I quickly developed strong interests in the fields of consumer behaviour, advertising, strategic marketing and branding (the focus of my undergraduate thesis).

What Drew Me to Product Design

I was lucky to grow up during the early tech boom, think Web 2.0, camera phones, iPods, and PlayStations, all of which sparked a lifelong fascination with technology. I always wanted to get my hands on the latest gadgets, driven by a genuine curiosity to explore how things work.

Creativity has also been a constant in my life, whether sketching as a kid or playing scrum-half in semi-professional rugby, a role that demanded creativity and quick thinking. All of this combined with my background in marketing, branding and advertising naturally led me to product design, where I get to combine my love for technology with creative problem-solving.

What excites me most about product design is the perfect balance between creative vision and technical challenge. There’s something incredible about taking an idea from concept to reality, and then seeing it in people’s hands. Above all, it’s about making things the best they can be. UX, in particular, appeals to me because it’s a continuous process of analysis and improvement, requiring a mindset that embraces learning from failures and constantly pushing for better solutions.

In My Spare Time

🏃‍♂️

Sport - as a passionate sport enthusiast, I frequently watch football, rugby, golf, tennis and Formula 1. I have also participated in semi-professional and representative rugby, in addition to the occasional gym session and ski trip.

🧳

Travel - exploring new places, globally or locally, and engaging with different cultures is a massive part of my life and something I will always find time for.

👨‍🎤

Music - my go-to during work, travel, exercise, chores, the list goes on. I've got dozens of playlists for any genre and mood, but if I had to choose, my current favourites are classic rock, hip-hop and electronic.

But, I needed more

Inspired by my interests, I sought to expand my knowledge and specialise in my preferred areas of marketing. This led me to pursue a master's degree in Advertising and Design at the University of Leeds. It was here that I was introduced to UX/UI design.

Over the course of the year, I successfully undertook two individual UX/UI design projects, and I've never looked back.

Inspired by my interests, I sought to expand my knowledge and specialise in my preferred areas of marketing. This led me to pursue a master's degree in Advertising and Design at the University of Leeds. It was here that I stumbled across product design. As soon as I began learning about the industry, I knew it was for me. Over the course of the year, I undertook two end-to-end product design projects for two of my favourite tech brands, Spotify and Netflix. I've never looked back.

My Current Role

I’m currently a Product Designer at Alloc8, where I’ve had the opportunity to shape digital experiences in the sports industry.

My role sits at the intersection of design, engineering and product strategy, allowing me to lead end-to-end projects while collaborating closely with talented developers and product owners.

During my time here, I’ve redesigned legacy platforms into modern, intuitive experiences, launched new digital products used at scale, and introduced design systems that streamline delivery across multiple brands. I’ve helped elevate matchday products to enterprise standards, supported major organisations like the British & Irish Lions and improved product performance by refining UX flows, restructuring information hierarchies and strengthening team processes.

Alloc8 has been a place where I’ve sharpened my craft, expanded my technical understanding and learned how to influence product direction with clarity and confidence.
